An evening of stories and song featuring three premiere women songwriters

MARION HALLIDAY - originally from Louisville, Kentucky, has participated in a number of bands over the years, often with a Celtic or bluegrass flavor (My Darling Asleep; The Molly Blooms). After moving to Philadelphia full-time a few years ago, she began writing folksongs inspired by the city’s rich, 400-year history, including songs about the statue to the Lenape in Wissahickon Park, an escaped convict from Eastern State Pen, the founding of Laurel Hill Cemetery and the revolutionary war memorial at Washington Square. She has also written songs on more universal, contemporary topics such as domestic abuse, suicide, depression, and the scourge of heroin and meth addiction sweeping our country. Not all serious, Marion and her band’s music also include some amusing reflections on the challenges of relationships, as well as an abiding love of bourbon.

Marion, and her current band Trickster Sister, as described by John Gage, host of WFPK 91.9 Public Radio Show Kentucky Home-front, "brings together their diverse talents to create an enticing blend of indie, folk, and bluegrass musical styles, with lush vocal harmonies over-top." Marion was named “One of the Ones to Watch” by the Nashville Songwriters Association International in January of 2018.

MEGHAN CARY - Critically-acclaimed artist Meghan Cary serves up award-winning original tunes with powerful vocals and stage presence. Think Melissa Etheridge singing Bruce Springsteen songs to a Paul Simon Groove. Cary earned Billboard Magazine’s esteemed Critic’s Choice Award when she first hit the scene, and now the title track of her latest album, SING LOUDER, has found its way to #2 on the US/International Folk DJ Chart, with the entire album coming in at #6.

Cary didn’t mean to be a musician. But when her fiancé unexpectedly died, she picked up his guitar, figured out how to play it, and wrote her debut, earning her the Billboard nod. “I wrote my grief into music and sang my way out of the abyss. I keep making music to help others connect with their own stories and find joy in their lives.”

Known for her raw honesty and ability to connect with audiences through high-energy tunes, masterful storytelling, and deeply personal lyrics, Cary’s message of unity and the power of raising our voices together infuses every show, and “Sing Louder” has become an anthem for the music-loving community.
Backed by her 6-piece band of Analog Gypsies, Cary continues to win over audiences from the fields of Philly Folk Fest to NYC’s infamous Bleecker Street. Equal parts folk, rock, gypsy jazz and jam band, Meghan Cary with Analog Gypsies serve up an evening of great tunes, fun stories, singing from your seat, and dancing in the aisles. At the core of the band are Cary and keyboard player, Peter Farrell. The Keys and guitar duo lays down a big musical footprint with cool grooves and tight vocal harmonies. Add to that the unique bass musings of Jocko MacNelly, the rhythmic melodies of drummer Quint Lange, the not-your-typical-bluegrass banjo playing and vocal harmony of Stacy Weathers, and the soulful and rhythmic harp and flute lines of Bob Beach, and you have the Meghan Cary with Analog Gypsies experience. "You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll beg for more!" (Critic's Pick - The News and Observer)

LISA JEANETTE - is a native Philadelphian and singer-songwriter who has recently released her debut album, Chasing Happy. The best way to describe Lisa’s style of music is "Kaleidoscope Folk", which represents a wide variety of genres in a diverse collection of songs. Listeners say they hear echoes of Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Ani DeFranco, Elton John and Karen Carpenter, but her sound is very unique to her. Lisa is looking forward to performing her single track, Lansdowne, at Jamey's House of Music, another gem added to the beautiful landscape of the town!
"Attending a concert by Lisa Jeanette was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had in years." - Emmet Robinson
