ABOUT ABOUT

Jill Salkin describes herself as a “hybrid” singer and songwriter. Her many musical influences include Motown, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Sarah Vaughan, Patti Austin, Chaka Khan, and Steely Dan.

Jill started writing poetry at age 14, and then began writing songs, accompanying herself with guitar and keyboard. Her voice study began at age 16, which she continued with her music studies at Temple University.

Her earliest performances were in coffee houses, and through her career, Jill has honed her craft as a singer and performer in clubs, Atlantic City casinos, jazz venues in Philadelphia, New York City, and Wilmington, and as a background vocalist for studio projects.

Jill has released three CDs, starting with, “Heart’s Desire,” in 2001, a collection of her original songs. 2009 brought the release of, “The Very Thought of You,” a compilation of jazz standards. Her latest CD, released in 2014, “What the World Needs Now,” shows Jill’s versatility, as she covers jazz, blues, some classic pop, and four of her original songs.

All of Jill’s CDs have been featured on radio stations, both on the dial and online. You can also listen to her station on Pandora.
