ABOUT ABOUT

Pianist Dave Posmontier brings his quartet to Jamey's House of Music where the group will include music from Dave's latest CDs, Posterity and Deep Pockets. The quartet consists of Dave on keyboard, saxophonist Bob Howell, bassist Dave Brodie and drummer Jimmy Coleman. The repertoire is an eclectic mix of swing, funk, gospel and Latin jazz consisting of Posmontier's original compositions as well as interpretations of jazz standards. The music has a varied flavor but it all grooves!

Dave Posmontier (piano) Dave Posmontier has been playing piano since the age of 7 and professionally for the past 40 years. A pianist, organist, composer, arranger and teacher, he has performed and recorded with many jazz artists including Christian McBride, James Moody, Chris Potter, Grover Washington Jr., David "Fathead" Newman, and Johnny Hartman. In celebration of its 100th birthday in 2007, the renowned Settlement Music School honored 100 alumni who have made a difference in the world of music. Dave and his brother Rich have been chosen to receive this honor. Dave's 2010 CD, Posterity features his original compositions as well as some well known standards and he has recently released a live acoustic trio CD, "Deep Pockets".

David Brodie(bass) David Brodie started playing the electric bass at the age of thirteen and first took on the upright bass at nineteen while enrolled at Berklee College of Music. After a year in Spain, he returned to his native Philadelphia where he quickly joined up with guitarist Jimmy Bruno, with whom he played for the next several years. From that point, his reputation well established, Brodie has enjoyed a busy playing and recording career and has performed with some of the world's greatest jazz musicians including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Chris Potter and Randy Brecker while performing regularly with some of Philadelphia's finest such as Larry McKenna, John Swana, and Joanna Pascale

Jimmy Coleman (drums) Philadelphia based drummer, Jimmy Coleman has worked with artists of such musical styles as R&B, Jazz, Funk, Pop and Electronica. A native of Indiana, he started playing at the age of 12 and soon after, began jamming in the garage with his childhood buddies. Jimmy attended Indiana University and since his arrival in the city of brotherly love, he has been paired with Grammy winner John Legend, toured and recorded with Eric Hutchinson, Siora, John Swana, Mikronesia and dozens of other world class musicians.

Bob Howell (sax) Bob Howell was born in Philadelphia and left the city in 1965 to study at the Berklee School of Music in Boston and from there began to perform nationally and internationally, interrupted for two years by being drafted into the army and eventually and luckily being stationed in a post band. He returned to live in Philly permanently and continues to perform locally, nationally, and internationally. Bob's extensive performing background and recording experience in jazz and R&B enhance his work as a teacher. Bob has played with such notables as Jaco Pastorius, Joey Defrancesco, Clark Terry and Michael Brecker.
